GYAP’s Immersion program consists of placing 1-4 Chinese students in a class
room with Australian students. The typical class ratio is 2-5 Chinese students to 20 Australian
students. Chinese students stay with host families while they are in the
Immersion Program. This allows students to get a full immersion experience
with the Australian culture and English language. Students are required to
attend all classes and activities associated with the program. Immersion
class takes place during the school year for a minimum of one week.
Each student is assigned a “buddy” who will act as a youth ambassador. The
Youth Ambassador will show the Chinese student around the campus and
introducing him/her friends while sharing the local culture.
Through this friendship, participants to build genuine cross-cultural
relationships with other motivated young people by becoming a part of a
growing group of quality young leaders within the Global Youth Ambassador
Project.
